Provide temporary latrines for use of workmen and keep in sanitary condition to the satisfaction of the Medical Officer of the Colony.

Provide temporary sheds for the use of workmen and clear away on completion.

Provide suitable and adequate yard accommodation convenient to the site of works.

Provide properly constructed storage sheds for cement testing, joining of pipes, and any operations to be carried out on shore.

Provide and maintain all access roads required during the Contract.

Provide for clearing away all surplus material on com- pletion of the work and leave to the satisfaction of the Engineer.

Provide for testing pipe work jointed together, cement, and any other material which the Engineer may require to be tested on the site, and provide and maintain in good order apparatus, material, assistance and everything necessary to carry out tests to the satisfaction o. the Engineer.

Provide a sufficient supply of clean water with adequate storage and temporary connections to the water mains in the districts,

[N.B. The price charged for water in the Colony for trade purposes is 75 cents per 1,000 gallons.]

Provide adequate and sufficient Office accommodation for the Engineer and/or his deputy at Kowloon side with all necessary lock-up conveniences for plans and documents and supply all lighting, heating and service when and as required by the Engineer.

Provide a Motor Launch of approved size and power and accommodation for the exclusive use of the Engineer or his deputy at all times during the construction of the work, and provide necessary staff, fuel and stores, and maintain the same to the satisfaction of the Engineer.

Provide and maintain in good order during the Contract, for the use of the Engineer, approved diving apparatus with all necessary floating craft, air plant, staff, skilled assistance and everything necessary to enable the Engineer to examine the work during construction on the bed of the harbour.

Provide, as and if required by the Harbour Authorities, maintenance of power boats, steam tugs or such craft as the Authorities require, to be available at or near the site during operations, for the purpose of assisting craft requiring assistance to avoid injury or damage either to themselves or to the plant supplied by the Contractors for laying the pipes or doing other work, so far as affects the work in this Contract.

Provide in excavation for strata of each and every kind, including rocks, boulders, running sand and the rates stated hereafter are to include the risk of materials of every description.

Provide for the compliance of the requirements of all Public Authorities.

Provide for Contractors' liabilities for damages to persons or properties arising out of the operations of this contract.

Provide for liability for damages and compensation to workmen.

Provide approved sureties and bond of £5,000.

VALVE CHAMBERS.

Provide steel interlocking sheet piling in two coffer dams round sites of valve chambers, of approved design and manufacture, at sufficient height above high-water level to enable operations to be carried out continuously, and driven sufficiently into the hard below to prevent the infiltration or flow, of water, sand or soft deposit from the area outside into the interior.

Cut above piling at low water level and secure 12′′ x 6′′ elm fenders to wall to prevent damage to shipping.

Excavations within coffer dams from 1 feet below to 31 feet below Ordnance Datum, including disposal of spoil.

Extra on above for excavation in hard from 25 feet below to 31 feet below Ordnance Datum.

In No. 20 pitch pine piles, 12" X 12", with proper shoes and caps, driven into the hard at the Kowloon side. Shoes to weigh about 50 lbs. each.
